In Swahili, KoKoTé means “Whither.” We often ask people, “Where do you come from?” – but far less often: “Where are you going?” For us, it is precisely this question that is central. Our understanding of responsibility extends far beyond sustainable materials and local production. It manifests where economic action, humanity, and future prospects converge. In this way, we not only create products but also contribute to shaping a future worth living.

Franz Huber and his wife Yvonne Herzog founded KoKoTé in 2015. From the very beginning, it was important to them to produce and sell bags and accessories with a clearly recognizable design, while also implementing a private-sector solution to the education and integration of refugees. Both work for KoKoTé on a voluntary basis.

KoKoTé is the largest bag manufacturer in Switzerland.

In the manufactory in Schattdorf, Uri, bags and accessories are produced. On the one hand, for its own brand, whose products are sold through the online shop, its own sales outlets, and selected retailers. On the other hand, KoKoTé produces custom-made items for customer and employee gifts and carries out upcycling on behalf of companies. KoKoTé is supported by the Association Equilibre and offers people with a refugee background (>26) – especially women – the opportunity to combine work with (catch-up) education. KoKoTé is a member of Swiss Label.
