I am Shukriye Heydari, prospective textile practitioner EBA

I come from Afghanistan, so my name may be difficult for you to pronounce. For the first time in my life I sit in a classroom and not only learn German and mathematics, but also much more. I can see a whole world in a grain of sand! I have three children who all go to school, and my eldest son helps me in the evening with homework in mathematics. Although it is a bit chaotic with three children, it is a wonderful experience to discover this universe of knowledge that was hidden to me so far just because I am a woman! And what is even more important to me: My husband, who works in a restaurant, can help in the household while I as a seamstress I make bags for KoKoté. We are all very busy!

Every stab, every new word, every mathematical miracle and every new way of thinking transform fears into pride when I look at the finished laptop bag. It is never too late to start learning. I started here in Switzerland to learn everything about language, writing and reading.

I gradually fill my gaps with the additional support of my mentor and learning to cross. When learning to cross, the "older" trainees practice with the "younger ones". The weekly 1-1 studies with my mentor also help me to build the required knowledge. My goal is to make up for the mathematical knowledge of eight years in two years. That is a big challenge for me. My big dream is training as a textile practitioner EBA, and I very much hope that I can start with it soon. My colleagues tell me that I am an extremely talented and careful seamstress. That makes me proud. We know exactly what to give and take for all of us.
